Current @ Garage Current: 1999 Ferrari F355

by Gunnar Heinrich ::: img Garage Current :::1999 Ferrari F355

GENERALLY, our favorite Yokohama shop of Teutonic wonders is, just that: a purveyor of the best that Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, RUF, and BMW offered us in the 80s and 90s. This Ferrari F355 Berlinetta happens to be a happy exception to the Germanic majority.

Easily The Nicest 450SLC Benz

by Gunnar Heinrich ::: img Garage Current ::: 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC

WHO knew that signal red on a 450SLC could look so hot? And not a color to be found Stateside – at least not in a great quantity. Indeed, it seems that the large majority of surviving C107 extended wheelbase coupes are in far more tame hues like silver or white and usually feature rust accents along the door sills and quarter panels.

Garage Current, the Japanese based purveyor of fine German machines, has once again offered up a truly lust-worthy Mercedes-Benz from Stuttgart’s golden era. Nearly flawless inside and out, the car is being offered with only 48,000 km (29,825 mi) on the clock.

Even if we’d prefer leather, the velour interior has a velvetly newness that is so inviting.

Oh, that we might be a hand upon that helm…

Garage Current’s Current Offerings Are Just Wonderful As Usual

SOMEWHERE near Yokohama, Japan exists what must be one the greatest car dealerships on the planet.

Garage Current is a perennial favorite because of the dealer’s magical, magical offerings. Chiefly, inventory includes German cars along with the occasional Italian exotic (as indicated by the rosso corsa Ferrari Testarossa above).  All seem to be in the mintest of conditions and are what one might describe as “modern classics.”

You know, luxury performance cars that feature soul as standard equipment along with important engineering and technological milestones like passive-cell safety cages, ABS, and power accessories.

By Gunnar Heinrich | IMG Garage Current

SOME day, I will go there. Garage Current. I will!

It’s almost a mantra at this point.

I will. I must. I’m destined!

bmw m3

The sheer quality, caliber, and quantity of really excellent examples of near-classic German cars is just too potent, too fabulous for so ardent an enthusiast like yours truly to ignore.

A roundtrip ticket to Yokohama to visit Garage Current then? Well, if the thought had occurred to me earlier last October, I would’ve made the pilgrimage when I was touring Tokyo.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Next time ’round.

In any case, let’s let our minds wander as we add up the must-have’s from their superlative collection.

Only trouble is… Once you’ve collected all these Teutonic toys, you could only drive them one at a time.

Garage Current’s ??? (Car of The Day) > Mercedes-Benz 560SEL

???????

Yokohama based Garage Current is a purveyor of some seriously cool cars. In their select pre-owned inventory sits everything from a 1989 Lamborghini LM002 to a freshly minted Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and, of course, a 1991 Navy Blue on Grey Mercedes-Benz 560SEL.

Needless to say, judging from their stock of rolling stock, I can’t wait to hop a flight to Nippon.

The Big Benz has thus far clocked just under 27,000 kilometers (16K miles). The first owner was a purist, as everything seems OEM – right down to the Becker radio. The sedan appears to be in first rate condition.

Apparently, Current Garage is in midst of a Christmas Sale. The dealership asks for ¥2.8 million ($26,000) for this 560SEL. Doubtless worth every rin.

The 560SEL is elegant from most angles, but particularly so from this three fourths vantage.

Very Japanese seat covers.

Stateside Benz owners should appreciate the familiar nature of the topmost sticker. It’s emblematic of Stuttgart’s best.

Beautiful Benz.
