Great write-ups Gunnar. I can't help thinking that Saab has had its 15 mins of fame. They may be much improved but with the likes of BMW and Audi out there its gotta be tough for them.

Quirkiness and character, two qualities that Saab made its name on are just a couple of strike outs on the 'quality survey' sheet these days - unfortunately.

Shortly after the nearest Smart (what a great brand name) store opened I stopped to look the FourTwo over. The fit and finish was good, inside and out. The interior space for the driver and passenger was better than several larger cars I can think of, including my C-class. Unless you put them on the roof you won't haul a couple of bags of golf clubs, but the cargo space was sufficient for a couple of bags of groceries or a couple of airline carry-on sized bags.

Given that it was rush hour and Rt1 was a parking lot, I passed on a test drive, but plan to go back. I don't think that the FourTwo is a good choice if is your only car, but as a second car for use around town it could be smart (sorry).
