Frankenhiemer is responsible for three of my favotite movies: The Manchurian Candidate, Grand Prix, and Ronin.

While Ronin is the weakest of the three, the car chases are simply incredible.

There was a special on SPEED for the anniversary of Grand Prix, and the stories by Frankenheimer and James Garner were very enlightening.

Simply put, Grand Prix is the finest movie of its kind ever made. Safety and logistical problems mean such a movie could never be made again. The authorities would never allow a cameraman to hang out a helicopter flying at 150 mph, 20 feet off the ground in the rain (at Spa) to film an actual grand prix.
