I remember how excited I was when I leased my first SC in 2003. It was deep purple and I enjoyed every moment of driving that beauty. I would have re-leased or purchased it in 2006, but I fell in love with the Pebble Beach edition that year and could not get it out of my mind. Tiger Eye mica. It made me drool, so I reluctantly gave up my Purple beauty and drove out of the dealership with the car of my dreams. This metallic Copper jewel has given me many years of pure pleasure. I’ve enjoyed the thrill of envious onlookers and their glowing comments so much that I just purchased the car at the end of my 2nd. lease. Yes, I re-leased my “baby” for an additional 3 years back in 2009. Needless to say, I’ll keep it until the powers to be at Lexus offer a new model SC. No other car has served me as well as this classic and I firmly believe that those that say they don’t like it’s looks are just jealous. It’s timeless beauty and reliability are unmatched. It’s worth every cent of the purchase price.

Late 2002 I test drove a new SC430 after a year of gazing
at it’s beauty online. The experience moved me so much I traded in
my 2000 XJ Vanden Plas. As a car enthusiast I could never keep a
car more then 2 years. After 1 year I’m usually looking for a
replacement. Fast forward to March 2011 and the SC remains. I can’t
wait for summer to get it out and the top down. I love the car! I’m
still guilty of looking at new cars but there is simply no other
car that offers the same trouble free, luxury and value. To this
day I get compliments as if it were new off the line. Other than
replacing the brakes at 90,000KM, I haven’t had as much as a bulb
burn out. The SC430 is a winner. If you come across a negative
article about the SC430 – trust me, they got it wrong.

I had bought a 2004 SC430 and enjoyed everything about it
,I had to give it up when my company laid me off,and I retired, so
i traded it on a saturn sky redline and it put my payment in
half,the sky was a cool car but nothing like the Lexus ,I sold it
and payed my truck off , then I took my truck in for a oil change
and it was a nice day i had seen a 2002 SC430 at the chevy car lot
and got the urge again but by the time I got my act together
somebody bought it so I searched the web and found one , a 2006
same everything I had, and more and certified so i bought it, the
moral of this story is if you got what you want keep it cause
sometimes you will play hell trying to get it back.

I own a black 02 SC430. I still get compliments almost weekly on it. After 10 years, it is still a pleasure to ride. I have never been in a car that after 10 years looks timeless. If 2010 was the SC430′s first year of production, it would still look like a beautiful piece of art and would undoubtibly be a hot seller. I will NEVER get rid of mine.

I loved this article because it pretty much said what is on my mind when I think about this car. I remember growing up, my aunt had the first generation 1992 SC400 and I thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world and when the 430 came out, it took my breath away. It was clean, elegant and yet so simple unlike other sports cars that are too flashy and too much. I will miss this model and I can’t wait to own one someday!

I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve spent in my 2004 SC430, top up or top down. I’ve owned it since new, and I still have the sense that it is a special car every time I get into it. Of all the cars I’ve owned, it has been my favorite. I’m amazed at the so called experts who can trash this car even though they’ve never driven it for more than a few minutes. This is a special car, one that was hand built in very small numbers. A exceptionally beautiful interior, and an exterior that has lines beautiful enough to last for almost nine years without change.

I wish Lexus would have shipped all of them without the run flat tires. The moment I replaced the run flats with normal Michelin Pilots, the car completely changed its character.

These cars will be collectible in 20 years, and I know I’ll miss mine if anything ever happens to it. I can always buy one of the last 700 made in 2010…

So nice to read something favourable on the SC.Personally I love the car and would be delighted to own one,if I had that kind of money. It’s always seemed to me that the SC became one of those cars it’s just not politically correct to like if you want to keep you credibility as a proper connoisseur of cars.Like a proper Star Wars fan can’t permit himself to like the prequels as much as the original trilogy,or a metal head prefer Van Halen with Sammy Hagar to Van Halen with David Lee Roth. Heaven forbid people should think for themselves and form their own opinions.Again,I love it.I’ve not had the pleasure of driving one,but if I ever were to buy a car on looks alone,this is it.The exterior is elegant,unique and totally devoid of clumsy race car pretensions.Why everything one wheels just has to be “sporty” I don’t know.The interior is so warm and sumptous it makes it even more baffling why anyone would subject themselves to the cold,sterile horrors of German luxury car interiors.
The first time I saw an SC430 in the flesh I thought to myself:”This is the very definition of automotive luxury”.
That is how I shall always remember this car.

This SC is timeless. Just clean lines and well proportioned. Mercedes SL tried too hard and looks busy. BMW 650s, oh my goodness! I’m surprised the Bimmer Board of Directors have actually agreed on it. And that massive front grill of Audi, what’s the point really. This is a collector’s item to those who appreciate finer things in life but chooses to maintain a low profile. European cars cannot be worshiped out of proportion. Afterall, spending plenty of time dealing with reliability issues at dealership means missing the road and having less money. Enjoy your SC if you have one:)

So true. When I was looking to replace my RX last fall I seriously considered the SC. However, it was just too small for my needs and I ended up with a GX. One day though, I would love to have one of these in my garage. Right next to my LS and GX. It would be the perfect combination of practicality, reliability, beauty, and luxury.
