BEHIND the wheel of the 2011 BMW 550i this week. The 550i sports 400 hp with 450 torques (!) between 1750-4400 rpm. Thank the (N63) V8′s twin-turbos for this magic boost. It’s like Evil Kenevil tied a long rope around your waist, fixed the other end to his dirt bike, proceeded to drive up and off a tall ramp at great speed, and you watched the line’s slack take up until the point - More to follow.

Nice metaphor, a bit harsh though, this 550i is not made for nervous people.
Maybe it is time to make a new video with the M5, M6 and the new 550i?

Gunnar, take a close look at the paint finish. I’ve seen a few that were acceptable, while others are a disaster. Seriously, at this price point the paint should comparable to a Ford or GM product. Oh, and speaking of disasters; enjoy the thoroughly joyless Run Flat Tires.

Actually, E, it is a car very much purposed to delivering lots of power on a buttery plate. This soothes the nerves when doing triple digits rather nicely.
JohnnyC. – The finish is fine to my eyes. And the ride is good enough, firm but dampened. Like every other car riding on low-profile tires these days, the suspension’s got its work cut out for it.
