It seems that all cars are loosing design with years and so sad that BMW is not an exception. Their 1990-2000 models were true masterpieces and what we have now is just sad.

I like when every model has its face. Those BMWs have their own soul and temper but not just twins with different-sized bottoms. BMW Z4 looks powerful almost like Muscle Car and it will definitely find admires, except me.

If BMW has lost it’s styling edge, and I would agree that it has, the reason has less to do with the designers and with the charge from management to produce cars that have the greatest possible appeal. At the end of the day it is BMW’s desire to be the GM or Toyota of luxury and near luxury automobile manufacturers that is at the root of the weirdness.

Fortunately performance is still being delivered, even if that core is placed in an odd wrapper.

I’d counter, gentlemen, that the new Z4 harkens back to the time of the 2002 when quick handling was BMW’s priority no. 1 and brute power was left to clumsy muscle cars.

Richard, I totally agree with you. The E39 M5 remains as BMW’s finest moment. Sadly, it appears that BMW’s designers have completely lost the plot. Too many women and metro-sexuals in the design department? Most likely.
